The Salaverry Multipurpose Port Terminal, an important connection point for trade in Peru, has reached a historic milestone with the arrival of its first Panamax-type vessel, the bulk carrier BLC Second. This event marks a significant advance in the terminal's ability to handle high-volume cargo, reinforcing its position as a crucial logistics hub in the region.

The BLC Second, with its impressive 229 meters in length and 32 meters in beam, established this milestone in the terminal operated by Salaverry Terminal Internacional (STI). This achievement has been possible thanks to the modernization and depth maintenance works carried out by the concessionaire, which have allowed the entry of a bulk carrier of this size.

From the National Port Authority of Peru (APN), it has been highlighted that this event reaffirms the commitment of the port sector to continue working with the main objective that the country has modern, competitive and sustainable ports.

This milestone occurs shortly after the inauguration of the new infrastructure of the multipurpose port terminal of the Port of Salaverry, which took place on March 24, 2023. This development includes the completed works of Pier 2, which has an extension of 230 meters long by 30 meters wide, which has allowed the attention of larger vessels.

At Andina Freight, we celebrate this achievement and are excited by the opportunities that this development brings for our clients and for trade in the region. We will continue working to provide comprehensive logistics solutions that meet local and international cargo needs.
