The proposal was presented by the MTC, as part of the commitments with the carrier unions for the economic reactivation of that sector.

International land transport vehicles may only enter Peruvian territory if the fuel they use meets the quality parameters set forth in national regulations. This is established in Law 31646 published in the El Peruano newspaper.

It should be noted that this regulation approved by Congress was presented and promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), as part of the commitments assumed by the sector to meet the demands of carrier unions and, in this way, contribute to the economic recovery of the country.

From now on, national or foreign carriers must submit documentation proving the origin of the fuel used for the movement of vehicles within Peru.

In the event that they use fuels that do not meet the quality parameters, the national authorities will verify that they only enter the amount necessary for their displacement to the nearest tap.

Thanks to the consensual work in the Energy and Mines and Transportation and Communications commissions of Congress, this regulation was able to materialize, which also specifies that, in the event that the offending carrier resists the supervision and inspection actions, a penalty that may go as far as impeding entry into the country.

The sector reiterates its commitment to carriers throughout the country and guarantees that work will continue to fulfill and improve the vital service they provide by transporting basic necessities, fuel, people and others throughout the country.

It should be noted that Osinermig is the body responsible for supervising and monitoring compliance with the law.
